This short documentary was put together by four people who met on Twitter and set up a sailing tweet up in the Chesapeake Bay. While you will learn how Twitter can bring people together for a great time, you’ll also learn some killer tips on how to use the site effectively. Each of us in the film have different motivations and strategies for the site, but in the end you’ll learn one trick that’s a surefire show stopper.
The concept for the film was created at breakfast before the sail. We shot it with one camera, each of us taking turns.
If you would like to follow us on Twitter we are @chris_suspect, @jonnygoldstein, @iconjohn and @scottstead.
I took Tony and Glenn out on the Chesapeake Bay for a 24 hour bender last summer. Poors guys make marriage seem like prison the way they totally let loose. They really need to get out more. We had a great sunny sail into Annapolis and moored the boat outside of the US Naval Academy which provided a great spot for all the boats participating in Wednesday Night Races. Later it was off in a water taxi for dinner in Eastport, then drinks at Pusser’s. The next day we awoke at 6am to the Naval Academy plebes doing and chanting their morning exercises. Breakfast, coffee and the the sail back to Rock Hall.
What a great weekend to take down a couple new folks to the boat for some great day sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. Beautiful fall weather with an easy 5-8 knot NE wind. After a great day of sail we see Mystic Whaler on the way back to my mooring. We do a round about and do a last minute jive talking session with Jonny Goldstein and Srcasm with fiance in tow. Enjoy! Jimmy CraicHead
Pillaged and plundered Rock Hall for the first ever Pirates and Wenches Fantasy Weekend. The weather was fantastic and so was the large crowd. Many thanks to Cuban stowaway Jorge Muniz for singing and guitar, and Blue Crab Charters for making it all happen! Be sure to see the ending for some great sing along pub crawl.
Demanda and I showed at up Downrigging Weekend in 2006, only to find all the tickets for sailing had been sold weeks before. This year we booked early and were greeted with strong cold north winds, the remmnats Hurricane Noel. There are over a dozen tall ships that sail this event, held the first weekend in November. We sailed Virginia Schooner a 116 foot Schooner that would have made Errol Flynn proud. Errol owned an incredible sailboat about this size named the Zaca, which he sailed and lived till the very end. So Errol, this video tribute is to you! Boat Drinks, Jimmy CraicHead!
The timing couldn’t be any better than to have Captain Tony join me for the weekend to celabrate Talk Like A Pirate Day on September 19th. A cold front roared through the Chesapeake chilling the Bay with NW winds 20-25 plus with gusts up to 30. Captain Tony is a weathered old fart sailor, having done 2 trips down the ditch to Florida Keys. With 2 reefs in the main we set sail to Annapolis Maryland, sailing capitol of the US, home to our nations Naval Academy. The bay was empty but a few die hards and a surprise visit from Boat Pix , a photo helicopter units that shoots aerial shots of boats and regattas around the country. As far as shooting the video for this day, I must say that it was the most reckless conditions I’ve ever encountered but did avoid falling in “the drink”. Enjoy and remember that tomorrow is promised to no one.
