Let’s call premier videobloggingweek2008 video the prequel to Dover to Belgium ferry ride. My travel pal Cynthia is one crazy girl. Met her at a Philly block party around 1982, and I was impressed that she was the only black girl (African American term not yet invented by PC people) wearing a Clash shirt. We loved many of the same punk new wave bands and to this day, our favorite band of all time is XTC. Cynthia moved to California in 1987 and we still email. Cynthia, this is for you!

This the third part of our trilogy to Ireland. We saw some of Ireland’s best weather in 2007 and Killarney was our third stop after Dublin and Galway. We took a jaunting car ride through Killarney National Park, and the fine driver, whose name escapes us told of John McShane a builder who left for America and built the Pentagon with Philadelphia legend John Kelly Sr.. John Kelly Sr. was father to Grace Kelly and made his fortune in the brick business. According to our jaunty car driver, John McShane moved back to Killarney Ireland where he passed away in 1997 at the age of 92. He left his mansion and land to Killarney which now a folk museum and National Park. Happy St. Patrick’s Day Jimmy CraicHead
It is a bit scary to watch video from 20 years ago and have forgotten most of it except for actually having done it. Flash Craicback to 1986 when I went to visit my cousin in Mons Belgium. The trip started off in London for a weekend, accompanied by my good friend Cynthia. Big memory was going to see the Dallas Cowboys play Chicago Bears at the old Wembley Stadium. Then it was off to Belgium via a ferry on the English Channel from Dover to
Ostend Belgium. Sad to report, this ferry ride only serves freight now. It was a beautiful August day and I was lugging around old school 2 piece video equipment. I wasted a lot of battery power from train rides, then overcharged the battery the first week. No footage of the next 3 weeks in Amsterdam, Brussels, Gent, or Frankfurt. London 1986…to be continued.
Demanda Diamond and I took some time off to visit Heidelberg Germany, where her Great Aunt Frida still lives. It’s a small city about an hour from Frankfurt and is a must see for anyone who wants to see a beautiful city that avoided much of the devastation of the war. To be continued…my birthday in Berlin!
