It only happens on a Friday the 13th at the Grey Lodge, a Philadelphia microbeer pub featured as one of Esquire Mags Best American Bars. Every Friday the 13th, many of the best local breweries make a cast “Firken” beer for consumption. It’s an all day event as they empty 2 dozen Firkins, about 10 gallons in each one. Thanks to Victory Beer, Troegs Beer, Flying Fish Beer, Triumph Beer and all the others drank!

This was a little bit more than I bargained for as Demanda and I strolled into historic Chesapeake City Maryland for Canal Day with camera equipment, dog and parrot in tow. The bird was mobbed by dozens of families with children, and the dog wanted to sniff every 10 feet. Apologies for the over exposed shots.
