Many thanks to fellow Philly blogger Jessica’s Journal for bringing me the long awaited news that PBS will be airing the new series Rudy Maxa starting on May 3rd. I first discovered Rudy in 2002 when very little in the way of Hi Definition television content was available. Jay Leno and The Tonight Show was one of the few but PBS was one of the first to get it rolling with Rudy’s Hi Def tour of Europe. He’s back again with new shows from St. Petersburg, Estonia, Turkey, India, Argentina, Japan and Thailand. Looking forward to it. Boat drinks!

Another videobloggingweek2008 has me salvaging some footage I took at the Cannstatter club last September. Alt Weiber Mühle loosely translates to “old women treadmill”. It’s an invention I hope will soon be invented!

This footage is a little bit of goofing off before my brother Andrew Coffey and I went off to the first Podcast Media Expo in 2005 where he was hosting Podcast Awards. I had always wanted to visit Hollywood Forever an incredible cemetary featuring the likes of many Hollywood legends. I also wanted to pay tribute to Johnny Ramone and Dee Dee Ramone both of whom I’d met and hung out with in 1983 when they passed thru Philly. I sold many of my baseball cards to Johnny, including a Steve Carlton rookie card (good condition). The experience of hanging with Johnny and Dee Dee was well worth the sacrifice. Joey seemed off limits, not as chatty as Johnny or Dee Dee. Ritchie was drumming at this time. Enjoy Videobloggingweek2008 Gabba Gabba Hey!

Let’s call premier videobloggingweek2008 video the prequel to Dover to Belgium ferry ride. My travel pal Cynthia is one crazy girl. Met her at a Philly block party around 1982, and I was impressed that she was the only black girl (African American term not yet invented by PC people) wearing a Clash shirt. We loved many of the same punk new wave bands and to this day, our favorite band of all time is XTC. Cynthia moved to California in 1987 and we still email. Cynthia, this is for you!

I shot this video at Drexel University, my alma mater by the way, last October. It was one of the first big Democrat debates and featured a cast of still hopefuls like Joe Biden, Mike Gravel and John Edwards. Not as much footage as I would have for a final video but I’m throwing it up to the internet Gods in honor of the upcoming cat fight between Hillary Clinton and Barry Obama . The event is being held at Constitution Center April 16th 8pm EST on ABC and if they mention a Joe Torsella on stage, great guy by the way, I dated his sister 10 years ago. So that would be 2 degrees of separation to some well known folk!
