Sailing Lake Nockamixon, Go Phillies!

Philly was going through a bizzare weather weekend. The Saturday Phillies game the night before was rain delayed to a 10PM start that didn’t end till 1:45 AM. A front brought a really nice brisk fall day to the area on Sunday with SSW winds from 6-8 knots. I took advantage of the situation to join Captain Tony and Captain Bob for day sail of craic on a 22 footer named Freudian Sloop on Lake Nockamixin. And just like that, the weather turned crappy on Monday leading way to the infamous suspended World Series game tied at 2 in the bottom of the 5th. Of course the rest is history now. Phillies win World Series in 5. And the Eagles beat Falcons too. Enjoy!

Phillies Win Championship, Remembering 1980

In 1980 I was working in Center City at a place called Gabriel’s Horn (next to the Academy of Music), that later became Marrabella’s. I can’t quite remember if they had a TV or not but I do remember watching game 6 either at the restaurant or the bar across the street. After the game logtime friend Skylor Lerman and I headed to Broad Street with my Nikon FM2 to shoot black and white film for the Drexel Triangle newspaper. It was a crazy night 28 years ago, at one point someone tried to grab my camera as I foolishly tried to climb onto someones truck. That night was not much different than this Vimeo video, shot on the same Broad Street area after the Phillies won the World Series last night. Amazing how many different video snapshots and perspectives one can get from looking at a certain event from the many file sharing websites.
I’m not so young and wild anymore but I did have fun watching at home and chatting up my many great friends on Twitter. Just wondering what the technology will be like the next time a Philly team wins a championship.

Mystic Whaler craic in Rock Hall

What a great weekend to take down a couple new folks to the boat for some great day sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. Beautiful fall weather with an easy 5-8 knot NE wind. After a great day of sail we see Mystic Whaler on the way back to my mooring. We do a round about and do a last minute jive talking session with Jonny Goldstein and Srcasm with fiance in tow. Enjoy!
