This marks the start of my fourth year of video blogging and I decided to take a small break from shooting any of the Mummers Festivities for this year. I did go down to do Washington Ave for some site inspections and caught up with Jonny Goldstein and his lovely wife Mattie but it was bitterly cold. My real intention that day was to hit the opening of Local 44 (at 44th and Spruce St. (former Kellianns and Murphys Tavern) to sample some killer micro beers with Philly beer dorks city wide. The place opened at 5pm and was jam packed by the time I met Polka Joe there by 6pm. Slugged a couple Victory Hop Wallops and called it a night but was determined to come back 2 days later for lunch with birthday girl Samantha. This video is more of a thank you tribute to Brenndan for opening such a fine place following in the footsteps of his “Port Kensington” Memphis Street Pub and to wish Samantha a little internet birthday wish. Enjoy

Happy Birthday Sam! Glad we were able to cross paths at the Mummers Parade to help you get your beer consumption off to an early start.
Enjoyed the video, thanks. Clearly I need to make the pilgrimage; that tap list has something for everyone. Happy New Year to you, John, and Happy Birthday, Samantha!
Looks very promising! Thanks for the introduction.
Happy birthday, Samantha. I chuckled with the slogan “Drink some wine in 2009.” Too good.
Fun vid…I’ll have to get out of my Center City rut and go west, young man, to try out Local 44. Looks good!
Go Eagles!!
