Sailing and Fishing Off Haleiwa Oahu

Got the opportunity to sail with my cousin Steve Villager on his 33 foot 1973 Ranger of of Haleiwa Hawaii. Trade winds were mid teens with gusts to the upper 20’s. Steve likes to hang 2 fishing lines off the stern and I have him reeling in a Mahi Mahi. His brother Scott is on helming the boat. It was the wildest sailboat ride I’ve ever been on. We buried the rail on a number of gusts and on the down winder coming back, we hit 8-10 knots riding the waves. I’ll be posting more video of this ride after I get back to Philly. Enjoy this one clip.

  1. 1 Rupert

    Good sailing weather :)
Did you have it for dinner?

  2. 2 Jimmy CraicHead

No Rupert, Steve is a vegan and saved it for his girlfriend. She then put it in the freezer (to eliminate bacteria?). The water here is so clean, you can see other boaters keels in the water. Thanks for stopping by the craic house. More elaborate video when I get home and edit.
