Sailing Tribute to Uncle Sam Torchia

I had the opportunity to go sailing on My cousin Steve “Looper” Villager’s boat Hoku’ula on the North Shore of Oahu last summer with his brother Scott. I thought it would be a great idea to dedicate the sail to our late Uncle Sam who passed away a few a couple years ago. Uncle Sam was an avid sailor and racer since the mid 70’s on Lake Erie sailing a 30′ Tartan. I regret never having sailed with him but spent some real great quality time with him in 2004 sharing sailing stories and basketball, his other great love. ;
The trade winds were kick ass this day, so I quickly had to abandon my Sony DV camera after it got soaked with a wave. Backup waterproof Sanyo Xacti E1 proved to be worth every penny I paid for it.
