Let’s call premier videobloggingweek2008 video the prequel to Dover to Belgium ferry ride. My travel pal Cynthia is one crazy girl. Met her at a Philly block party around 1982, and I was impressed that she was the only black girl (African American term not yet invented by PC people) wearing a Clash shirt. We loved many of the same punk new wave bands and to this day, our favorite band of all time is XTC. Cynthia moved to California in 1987 and we still email. Cynthia, this is for you!

it is so fucking awesome that you were recording video back in 1982. I can’t believe how good it looks. you rock so hard.
Kicking it off early with a travel vid! Beer for breakfast..good on ya
Wow that’s so cool. Who was the guy that got to carry around the 20lb video camera all over Europe?
Jay Dave and Verdi, most of the VHS tapes from 83-88 still look great. Lot’s of wasted footage by shooting it on landscapes type stuff. I burned out the battery this trip with 220 voltage. And it was a drag hauling 2 pieces around. Especially when I left it in Frankfurt before going into Berlin 1984, a decision I regret to this day. Thanks for stopping by.
YES
thanks for posting this
i want MORE 80’s VHS video!!!!!!
John – don’t even remember filming this. Must have been having too much fun to notice as I laughed all the way through. You do rule!!!
That just blew me away. I was in those very streets and having the greatest of times in London in ‘86. You’ve triggered a memory whirlwind. The quality is amazing. Jimmy the original videoblogger. Cutting edge!
Robert, thanks for stopping by. I only wish I had the technology in 1981 when I paid hommage to the famed punk 100 Club, long vacant but still there physically. I love London and have had the good fortune to have been there many times over 25 years.
Fuckin’ A! Dood, you were pretty much videoblogging in ‘86? That kicks ass! I was still hauling a portable cassette recorder around gathering audio memories. This. Rules.
I’m glad you’re taking a trip down memory lane for VBWeek, 80’s style. I’m right there with you!
You were such a cute beer drinker! I know I’ve said it before, but I couldn’t resist.
BTW, great background music!
